Peter Ballast

Peter Ballast is New Zealand’s only serious rock critic. He is also New Zealand’s only serious rock expert and the author of New Zealand’s only serious rock critique. Ballast’s geological journal Stoned & Destoned is thought of fondly in the Dunedin region. He is currently working on his opus magus, A History of Rock In Rock: From Bill Haley To The Stone Crowes.

Aloysius Gilhooley

Aloysius Gilhooley has been a music writer and critic his entire life. At the age of 5 he claimed his school teacher’s piano playing lacked vision and emotion, giving her just a 3 star rating. From that moment on his course was set. Gilhooley has written for many well regarded music publications, most recently for Pitchzpork. He is currently working on a book detailing the rise, fall and rise again of Huntington, W.Va’s burgeoning Chunk Rock scene.

Gilhooley’s relationship with music has been long and fruitful. His love affair with music started while he was still in a previous relationship with model airplanes, which resulted in a messy break-up around the age of 13. He has seen many sides of the music industry, both by playing in bands, such as Simone & Bumfiggle and Bakesale, as well as writing for publications such as Pitchzpork. His uncompromising writing style and commitment to seeking out new artists knows no bounds and has taken him to all corners of the globe. He is allergic to yoghurt.
